Lillian Poplin passed away on May 21, 2018 at age 85 in Clackamas. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 9th at 10am in Lone Oak Cemetery followed by a service at South Salem Church of the Nazarene 1661 Boone Rd. SE, Salem at 11:30 am with a reception to follow. Lillian was born on July 18, 1932 in Galax, Virginia. Affectionately called “Sissy” by her family, she attended school in Virginia and moved to Oregon in 1959 where she settled in West Stayton area. She married JL Poplin in 1966 and he preceded her in death in 2007. Lillian worked for Salem Public Schools as a bus driver and retired after 20 years of employment, maintaining friendships with many of her coworkers even after retirement. She was a long time member of South Salem Church of the Nazarene for over 40 years and enjoyed being part of several ministries. In addition to her church, Lillian had many talents and interests, whether it was her love for gardening flowers and vegetables, growing berries and making jam from them. She was also a tremendous cook making many southern style dishes and was known in her family for her fantastic berry crisps. She also crocheted and quilted, gifting many of her quilts to friends and family. Lillian had a big heart for her family and would do anything for them. She is preceded in death by her husband, JL in 2007 and her twin brother Forest Taylor. She is survived by her brothers, Ralph Taylor and Carroll (Lana) Taylor in addition to many, many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
