Lola Irene Schaffers Profile Photo

Lola Irene Schaffers, a devoted mother and grandmother whose strength and generosity touched all who knew her, passed away peacefully in Salem, Oregon.

Born on September 10, 1937, in Corvallis, Oregon to Elmer and Myrtle Radford, Lola spent her early years in the quiet beauty of Kings Valley. It was there, surrounded by the rolling hills and close-knit community, that she met the love of her life, Clem Schaffers. They were married on September 25, 1961, in Kings Valley, and soon after began their life together on a farm in Sublimity. That farm would become the heart of their family—a place of hard work, laughter, and enduring love.

Lola embraced her role as a homemaker with grace and dedication, raising four children: William Schaffers, Susanne Kinney, Kathleen Schaffers, and Paul Schaffers. Her days were filled with the rhythms of family life, and her hands were rarely idle. She found joy in gardening, crocheting, knitting, cooking, and reading—each hobby a reflection of her creativity and care. Her garden bloomed under her green thumb, and her home was warmed by the meals she lovingly prepared and the crafts she made with skill and patience.

She was a woman of quiet strength—strong of body and mind—and her generosity extended beyond her family to all who crossed her path. Lola’s legacy lives on in her children and in her grandchildren: Emma, Orie, and Sammuel Schaffers, who carry forward her spirit and values.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Clem and her brother Ronald Radford. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory and the example she set.

Her life was a testament to enduring love, resilience, and the beauty of a well-tended home and heart. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A private service will be held for family to honor and remember Lola.
