Marilynn "Jean" Hanson, a woman of resilience, intellect, and unwavering kindness, passed away on May 22, 2025. She was born on November 19, 1948, in Hitterdal, Minnesota, to Marjorie and Bernard Hanson. From an early age, Jean exhibited a deep appreciation for learning and a steadfast determination that guided her throughout her life.

After completing high school, Jean pursued her higher education with vigor, earning her master's degree at the University of Montana. Her keen analytical mind and dedication to service led her to a career as a tax preparer with H&R Block, where she assisted countless individuals and families with their financial needs, offering both expertise and compassion.

Beyond her professional life, Jean found profound joy in farming. She had a particular love for raising goats, a passion that reflected her nurturing spirit and deep connection to the land. She also carried a strong commitment to her community, offering her time and energy to those in need.

On July 12, 2017, Jean married the love of her life, Sharon Dougherty, in Scio, Oregon. Their union was a testament to devotion and companionship, built on shared laughter, unwavering support, and a mutual appreciation for life’s simple joys.

Jean was preceded in death by her spouse, Sharon Dougherty; her beloved parents, Marjorie and Bernard Hanson, and her nephew, Kris Hanson. She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth through her daughter, Amanda Dougherty; her cherished grandchildren, Tobin Mccord, Rilee Mccord, Easton Mccord, and McKenna White; her brother, Butch (Sunny) Hanson; and her nephew Karl and niece Kori. She is also survived by her three great-nieces and a great-nephew, each of whom carries forward the spirit of her generosity and wisdom.

Jean’s life was defined by her devotion to family, her commitment to service, and her passion for the simple, meaningful moments that make life extraordinary. She will be deeply missed, yet her memory will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
