Marjorie Ellen Gressel-Collopy passed away on January 7, 2026, in Salem, Oregon. She was born on October 6, 1951, in Vallejo, California. At the age of five, Marjorie moved with her family to Washington State, and at ten she settled in Oregon, which she would lovingly call home for the rest of her life.
Marjorie’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She lived out her beliefs through service to others, volunteering at the Marion County Jail where she conducted Bible studies and supported inmates preparing for their GED. She also shared her kindness and patience as a teaching assistant at Hayesville Green Elementary, where she touched the lives of many children.
Marge was well known for her cooking and her welcoming home. She loved gathering friends around her table for tea, shared meals, and game nights filled with laughter. She had a joyful spirit and delighted in singing, dancing, and watching classic films from the 1940s. Some of her happiest memories were tied to her favorite places: the Puget Sound, where she spent her childhood, and the Oregon coast, which she held close to her heart.
Marjorie had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dog, Max, who brought her great comfort. Above all, she loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. She shared a bond with her daughter and cherished a very special relationship with her grandson, who brought her immense joy.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Robert Colopy; her daughter, Melissa Gallegos; and her grandson, Ethan Gallegos. She will be remembered for her faith, her generosity, her warmth, and the love she so freely gave.
