Mark Ross
Gescher
July 25, 1950 – April 16, 2026
Weddle Funeral Service - Stayton
Starts at 1:00 pm
Mark Gescher, born July 25, 1950, in Salem, Oregon, to Herbert and Lillian Gescher, lived a life shaped by service, hard work, quiet humor, and a deep devotion to the people he loved. He passed away on April 16, 2026, in Lebanon, Oregon, leaving behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and steadfast loyalty.
Mark grew up in Oregon and graduated from Regis High School before answering the call to serve his country. In 1969, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as a Gunner's Mate until 1973. His dedication and honorable service earned him the National Defense Service Medal. In his civilian life, Mark worked in the logging industry, felling timber and building roads. During his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening, watching the Seahawks, hunting, fishing, playing cribbage and spending time with his friends and family. Mark was blessed to be cared for at the Oregon Veteran's Home in Lebanon during the last year of his life, where he enjoyed visiting with his housemates, joining in on activities and major all-campus events. He had a great, subtle sense of humor, and his smile could light up a room.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his daughters Angela and Hayley. Mark is survived by his wife Becky, daughters Heather and Hollie, five grandchildren, three great‑grandchildren, and siblings Dan and Dee.
Mark was loved by many and will be missed by all. Mark will be remembered as an awesome father, husband, and friend; someone whose love was steady and whose presence brought comfort. As the family reflects, "The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love he left behind."
