Marletta Spires, born September 16, 1935, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Golda Roberds and J.T. Powers, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at her home in Lyons, Oregon, surrounded by the love and presence of her family. Her life was one marked by devotion, creativity, and a bright, joyful spirit that left an imprint on everyone who knew her.

Marletta moved to Oregon in her youth, where she met the love of her life, Robert Dean “Red” Spires. The two were married on November 1, 1952, in Tri Cities, Oregon, beginning a partnership rooted in affection, humor, and steadfast commitment.

A dedicated homemaker, Marletta poured her heart into creating a loving and nurturing environment for her children. Her creativity was boundless. She was gifted in woodworking and carving, painting, sewing, and tending to her garden, which she kept vibrant and beautiful. Her hands were always busy making something meaningful, and her artistic touch could be seen in every corner of her home.

Marletta’s personality was as bright as the flowers she grew. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a lively presence that could light up any room. Family and friends were drawn to her warmth, her quick wit, and the genuine kindness she offered so freely. She was deeply loved, and her joyful spirit will be remembered with fondness by all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Fannie King; her brothers, Bud Powers and Jim Powers; and her beloved husband, Robert Spires.

Marletta is survived by her large and loving family, including her children Lori Williams, Leisa Parlin, and Sheree Pederson; her sister Linda Sturges; and many grandchildren and great‑grandchildren who will carry her legacy forward with pride and affection.

Marletta will be remembered for her creativity, her humor, her radiant personality, and the deep love she held for her family. Her memory will remain a blessing and a source of comfort for generations to come.
