Obituary

Mary Ann Rulli, born May 21, 1938, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Arthur Hunt and Sophie Burkett, lived a life shaped by resilience, devotion, and the deep bonds of family. At the age of seven, she moved with her family to Napa County, California, where she grew up surrounded by the beauty of the valley and the steady rhythms of community life.

As a young woman, Mary met Dresden Gideon Marquardt, who would become her first husband and the father of her children. They married in September of 1956, beginning a life marked by hard work, partnership, and the joys and challenges of raising a growing family. In 1964, they moved their family to Oregon, where Mary embraced her roles as mother, homemaker, and provider with unwavering dedication.

Mary later returned to California in 1980, a place that remained her home for the next forty‑five years. During this time, she continued to build a life rooted in care and service. She completed 13 years of education, culminating in her LVN Nursing Certificate, a milestone that reflected her lifelong commitment to helping others.

In January of 1989, Mary married her second husband, Nicholas Rulli, with whom she shared companionship, partnership, and many meaningful years. Together they made a home in California until his passing and Mary chose to return to Oregon in 2025, wishing to spend her final chapter closer to family and the familiar landscapes she had loved decades earlier.

Mary passed away on October 3, 2026, in Scio, Oregon, surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply.

She is survived by her children Sheree (Marquardt) Frazier, Harlan Marquardt, Bruce Marquardt, Pamela (Marquardt) Houck, Suzanne (Marquardt) Jarvis, and Richard Marquardt.

She is further survived by 18 grandchildren and 42 great‑grandchildren, each one a testament to the rich and enduring legacy she leaves behind.

Mary will be remembered for her quiet strength, her devotion to family, her commitment to caregiving, and the way she shaped generations through her love, her work, and her steady presence. Her life was long, meaningful, and deeply rooted in the people and places she held dear. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
