Nancy Lee Murphy, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Salem, Oregon on August 27, 2023. Born on July 15, 1938, in Woodland, California to Nell and Sam Moody. Nancy lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to her family and community. She grew up with her siblings, Rosie, Jim, Barbara and Wink in Woodland California.


Nancy was a proud graduate of Woodland High School, class of 1956. Her thirst for knowledge and he faith in God, led her to continue her education at Bethany Bible College in Santa Cruz, California, where she studied for a year after high school. Her education laid the foundation for her lifelong love of learning and her commitment to service.


She married Eugene “Skip” Willard Murphy on February 16, 1963, in Carson City Nevada. They shared many wonderful years of marriage until his passing. They were blessed with two children Sean and Peggy. Over the years Nancy would live for 34 years in Woodland, California and along with Skip, they would move their family to Oregon in 1972, where they would reside in Lebanon, Eugene, Waldport/Newport, Prineville, Elmira and Salem. Over the years Nancy would love to travel and see different sites.


Nancy dedicated much of her life to serving others. She was a DHS Vista Volunteer, where she made a significant impact on her community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of the First Assembly of God Church. Her service to others was a testament to her kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith.


Nancy had a passion for reading, often losing herself in the pages of a good book. Her love for cooking was evident in the delicious meals she prepared for her family and friends. She also had a keen interest in genealogy, spending countless hours tracing her family's roots and history. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Nell; husband, Skip and sister, Rosie Robinson. She is survived by her children, Sean Murphy and Peggy Murphy Koffler; siblings, Jim Moody, Barbara Selby and Wink Chase. She was also a doting grandmother to Rachal Jackson, Dylan Zulke, Christian Biggs, Alyssa Murphy, Kali Murphy, and Jessica Murphy.


Nancy's life was a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. She was a beacon of light and hope to all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched throughout her remarkable life.


In remembering Nancy, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, service, and dedication. Her memory will forever be a source of inspiration and comfort to all who knew and loved her. Nancy Lee Murphy, a woman of grace, kindness, and unwavering faith, will be deeply missed.
