Norma "Laurie"
Cureton
Apr 15, 1939 — Jul 5, 2026
Norma "Laurie" Cureton peacefully entered the presence of her Lord on July 5, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on April 15, 1939, Laurie lived a life defined by faith, hard work, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon Cureton, and her cherished son, Timothy Cureton. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with them, as Leon has gone before her to prepare their eternal home together with the Lord.
Laurie is lovingly remembered by her brother, Jim Love; her daughters, Gina (Cureton) Suing and her husband Tom, and Cindy Cureton; her eight treasured grandchildren—Matthew Cureton, Logan Rochetto, Katrina Rochetto, Jared Suing, Connor Suing, Adam Cureton, Anthony Cureton, and Danielle Cureton; seven beloved great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends whom she considered family.
Laurie graduated from Cascade High School in 1957, where she met the love of her life. She and Leon married in 1958 and built a beautiful life together, including two homes they constructed with their own hands in the Santiam area. They treasured the peace of country living and the life they created together.
She began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant before serving many years with the State of Oregon, retiring after a lifetime of dedicated service.
Laurie embraced life with determination and joy. She was an award-winning local league bowler, an exceptional seamstress whose craftsmanship rivaled anything found in stores, and, in her later years, an enthusiastic fan of television game shows. She loved telling her family how much she "would have won" had she been a contestant—and more often than not, she was right.
Above all, Laurie will be remembered for the love she gave so freely. Her kindness, resilience, and steadfast faith touched everyone who knew her, and her legacy will live on in the family she cherished and the memories they will forever hold close.
A private family graveside service is being arranged through Weddle Funeral Service in Stayton and will be held on a future date to be determined.
Though she will be deeply missed, Laurie's family rejoices in the promise that she is now at peace, reunited with Leon and Timothy, and resting safely in her Savior's eternal care.
