Opal Faye Walker

Opal Faye Walker, 83, passed away surrounded in love by her family on Saturday, January 24, 2026 in Salem, Oregon. She was born January 20, 1943 in Portland, Oregon to her loving parents Merle and Nina Cochran. She was part of a large family that consisted of 12 brothers and sisters with Opal being number 5. 

Opal attending Lyons Mill City high school and received her cosmetology license January 31, 1975 after attending Modern Beauty college in Salem, Oregon. Opal lived and worked in the Mill City-Lyons area for a majority of her life. She was a local beautician at The Hair Konnection where she cut generations of local familes’ hair for decades. Opal was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and a devoted follower of Christ. 

She was loved by everyone who met her, everyone was considered a friend which meant she welcomed you into her home and you better be ready to be feed lunch or snacks. In her younger years you could catch her at Eagles or Moose lounge playing pool, at the bowling alley, camping and fishing at Detroit Lake. Later in life she enjoyed spending her time at the Mill City Senior Center, playing pinnacle and attending church at the Mehama Community Church, throughout her life she enjoyed anytime spent with her family. 

Opal is survived by her daughter-in-law Cindy Bracher, granddaughters Andrea (Travis) Grippin, Kristin (Kevin) Wilson, Cathy (Robert) Lee, Heidi Keisler, grandson Jason Bracher, great-granddaughters Josephine, Paige, Maleah, Addison, McKenzie, great-grandsons Quintin, Jayden, and a baby boy who is due in late July. 4 sisters Phyllis Gomez, Debbie (George) Throop, Ellen DeSelms, Leila Glasser, 1 brother Lyle (Cindy) Cochran, and countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Bracher, former husband James Bracher, beloved husband Ross Mason, beloved husband Chuck Walker, parents Merle and Nina Cochran, siblings Darrel, Twila, Rita, Nancy, Wanda, Evonne, and Marlene.
