Phyllis Jean Gescher, born on February 14, 1936, in Bend, Oregon, to Lila and Phillip Jarvis, lived a life rooted in love, service, and devotion to her family. She grew up in Oregon and carried with her a gentle strength and a generous spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
Phyllis met the love of her life, Daniel L. Gescher, and the two were married on May 12, 1962, at St. Ignatius Church in Portland, Oregon. Together they built a home filled with faith, laughter, and the steady warmth of shared purpose. Their marriage was a partnership marked by friendship and commitment.
A dedicated homemaker, Phyllis poured her heart into raising her family and creating a home where her children felt supported, encouraged, and deeply loved. She later extended her care to the community as a cook at Stayton Middle School, where her kindness and steady presence were appreciated by students.
In her free time, Phyllis found joy in the simple pleasures that brought beauty and meaning to her days. She enjoyed flowers, a neatly landscaped environment, camping, reading, shopping, and traveling. She also loved collecting jewelry which reflected the sparkle she always held. Her faith in Jesus was a guiding force throughout her life, and she devoted many hours to serving at her local churches, offering her time and talents with humility and grace.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband Daniel Gescher, her children Dana Gescher, Bonnie (Hess) Gescher, and Shari (Travarow) Gescher, who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brittany (Bell) Gescher, Jaclyn (Moyer) Gescher, Jessie Gescher, Andrew Hess, Eric Hess, Jacob Silbernagel, and Josh Silbernagel, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Phyllis will be remembered for her gentle heart, her steadfast devotion to her family and her faith in Jesus, and the quiet, enduring kindness she shared so freely. Her presence was a blessing, and her memory will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who loved her.
