Richard Duane Edwards

Richard Duane Edwards, born on August 13, 1938, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, leaving a legacy marked by dedication, curiosity, and steadfastness.

Richard was the beloved spouse of Joyce Hartill, whose partnership brought strength and warmth to their many years together. A devoted father, Richard cherished the years spent with his sons Steven and Daniel Edwards. Richard’s sister, Mary Ann Edwards, also survives him.

Throughout his life, Richard was deeply committed to his work as an ironworker. His skill and discipline in this demanding profession not only defined his career but also reflected his unfaltering work ethic.

Richard’s service in the Air National Guard Reserves stands as a testament to his sense of duty and love for his country. This period of service was a point of pride for Richard, underscoring his commitment to community and nation.

Outside of his professional and military accomplishments, Richard found joy and fulfillment in a wide array of interests. He was passionate about genealogy and history, exploring both the grand sweeping currents of the past and the intricate details of family lineage. A keen collector, Richard gathered stamps and unique rocks, always driven by an insatiable curiosity and appreciation for the stories behind each object. His love for reading further enriched his life, opening new worlds and ideas. Richard was a man with many interests, each reflective of his thoughtful and inquisitive nature.

Richard is preceded in death by his son, Steven Edwards; his brother, Robert Schuetzle; and his parents, Pauline and Russell Edwards. Their memories remained close to Richard’s heart throughout his life.

His presence will be deeply missed, and his legacy will endure in the hearts of those who survive him.
