In Loving Memory of Robert Lewis Hauptmann

June 7, 1952 – October 2, 2025

Robert Lewis Hauptmann, 73, of Salem, Oregon, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at Salem Hospital.

Born on June 7, 1952, in Salem to Allie “Abe” Clifton Hauptmann and Evelyn Blanche McKay, Robert grew up with a strong sense of kindness, generosity, and integrity that would define his life. He graduated from Molalla Union High School in 1970 and went on to earn his associate degree from Clackamas Community College before attending Oregon State University.

Robert dedicated nearly 40 years of his career to Norpac, where his hard work, reliability, and gentle spirit earned him the respect and friendship of many. He worked in irrigation and in the fields that reflected his deep appreciation for growth and nurturing — qualities that extended to his relationships with family and friends.

On May 16, 1986, Robert married Leeza in Salem, Oregon, and together they built a loving family, raising three children — Mandi, Matthew, and Rachel. Though Robert and Leeza later separated, their bond of friendship and shared devotion to their children remained unbreakable throughout his life.

After retiring in 2015, Robert faced significant health challenges, suffering two major strokes. Despite these hardships, his kind and generous nature never wavered. He continued to approach life with grace, humor, and compassion, always ready with a smile, a story, or a helping hand.

Robert cherished life’s simple joys like trips to the Oregon Coast, catching a movie at the theater, sharing a meal at McGrath’s or HomeTown Buffet, and watching wrestling or sports on TV. He had a wonderful laugh and never spoke ill of anyone. A people person through and through, Robert found joy in conversation, often sharing his insights and experiences with warmth and sincerity.

He was preceded in death by his beloved siblings Betty Dietz, Joyce Key, Artie Haury, and David Hauptmann.

He is survived by his children, Mandi Hauptmann, Matthew Hauptmann, and Rachel Hauptmann; his treasured granddaughter, Olivia; and his former wife and lifelong friend, Leeza Hauptmann.

Robert will be remembered as one of the kindest souls a man whose heart was open to all, whose laughter brought comfort, and whose generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of kindness and love will live on through his family and all who carry his memory in their hearts.
