Robert “Gabby” Lee Culver was born to Harold E. Culver and Annamarie (Elmore) Culver, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, on February 24, 1944, oldest of 9 children. Growing up in a military family meant frequent moving. His father was career Navy and his stepfather career Air Force. When his family returned from being stationed in Turkey, he joined the Army being stationed in California, Massachusetts, and Germany. After discharge he moved to the Stayton area and began his truck driving career. There he was introduced to Juanita Morgan by her cousin. They were married October 24, 1970 and would move to Lyons in 1972. Their daughter Xann-Marie was born January 9, 1973. He loved being a father. She learned her love of camping, hiking, and fishing from him. On August 2, 2019 Robert passed away in Lyons, Oregon. He was preceding him in death by his parents, sister Linda, and brothers Rodney and Wayne. He leaves his loving wife Juanita, daughter Xann-Marie Culver (Arthur Porter), granddaughter Jillian Porter (the apple of his eye), brother Ken (Kay) in Tennessee, sisters Patricia (Don) Gibbs in Georgia and Robin and Jeanette Culver in Texas, and Carol Colton in Salem. A special thank you to Willamette Valley hospice, especially Leslie, Jessica, Loura, and Nicole.Per his request there will be no services. He said he would rather have people take a walk in the woods.
