Rose Elaine Fudge

Rose “Elaine” Fudge, a devoted caregiver and loving matriarch, passed away on July 5, 2025. Born on March 5, 1945, in Salem, Oregon to Rose Ella Sisk and Don A. Wait, Elaine’s life was rooted in the values of service, family, and faith.

Elaine married the love of her life, Rodger Fudge Jr., on November 15, 1975, in Salem. Together, they built a life filled with affection, laughter, and shared joys. Professionally, Elaine dedicated herself to caring for others as a home health aide with Benedictine Home Health. Her gentle hands and compassionate spirit touched many lives throughout her career, and she retired with grace at the age of 62.

A proud former member of the Salem/Keizer Eagles, Elaine found joy in community and companionship. She cherished shopping outings, attending church, sharing meals at her favorite restaurant—Sizzler—and spending time with her beloved family. These moments, whether simple or grand, were the heartbeat of her days.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Rodger; and her brothers, Larry Garrison and Don Wait Jr. She leaves behind a family who will continue to honor her legacy with love: her children, Tammy Fudge (Richard), Dan Houston (Laura), and Cindy Wellborn; her grandchildren, Daniel (Vanessa) Shearer, Thomas (Rosalia) Shearer, Samantha (Casey) Houston, Zach (Laraka) Houston, and Jennifer (Jake) Fudge; and her great-grandchildren, Keith, Arabella, and Mercedes; She is also survived by her brothers Ross Garrison (Sandy) and Dave Wait (Barb), in addition to many step grandkids, and many heart adopted kids and grandkids. 

Elaine’s life was a testament to quiet strength and heartfelt devotion. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her, reminding all of the beauty found in a life well lived and deeply loved.
