Veva “Ruth” Grigg was born March 10, 1930, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, to Loyd and Mildred (Boyd) Grigg. She made the choice to serve the Lord at age 10 and her faith sustained her throughout her life. She married Clinton Hopkins on August 7, 1946, and to this union 8 children were born, and survive her: Sharon Darling, Cheryl (Ron) Nichols, Elda Jordan, Charlie (Cynthia) Hopkins, Ernie (Becky) Hopkins, Steve (Kay) Hopkins, Richard (Radhika) Hopkins, and Bernie (Wes) Bacon; 28 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. In addition to extended family, including nieces and nephews; Sister, Erma Lee Munn; brother, James (Rojene) Grigg; husband, Don Jennings plus extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Mildred Grigg, and husbands, Clinton Hopkins, and Stan Bullick. She was a homemaker, clerked sales for her husband who was an auctioneer, and enjoyed playing the piano, needle work, and correspondence. She worked and was part owner of the HI-Way Trading Post in Neligh, Nebraska. The family moved to Oregon from Nebraska in August of 1967; they made their first home in Silverton, Oregon. Ruth worked as a Dental Receptionist/X-Ray Tech and clerked at Scotty’s Auction. She completed 10th grade prior to marriage, received GED in 1972, received certification for Dental Radiology in 1980 from Chemeketa Community College. She passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 25th, 2022, in Salem, Oregon.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 30 th , 2022, at 11am at Weddle Funeral Services in Stayton, Oregon. Burial will follow the service at Lone Oak Cemetery with a reception at the funeral home.
