Samuel Melford Hoover

Samuel "Sam" Melford Hoover, 72, of Independence, OR, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026. Born on November 21st, 1953, to Melford and Nelda Hoover, Sam lived a life grounded in hard work and quiet dedication. Sam grew up the youngest of 3 older brothers, Joel, Bob, and David. He has worked with electronics for years, inspiring thousands of students as a professor, installing fire alarm systems internationally, and working with computers before retiring in 2025. Away from the computer screen, he had a green thumb for gardening and a master hand at fixing anything you could throw at him. He truly loved the Oregon outdoors, the coast, photography, and cooking his family some amazing meals. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Debbie; his children, Joshua Hoover and Jenn Jameson; six grandchildren, and three great grandkids who adored their grandfather.
