Sanford Glenn Young, born on April 10, 1971, in Daly City, California, to Barbara Jo Perry and Sanford Lee Young, lived a life marked by service, strength, and deep connection to the people around him. He spent 45 years in California before making Oregon his home for the past decade.

After completing his schooling, Sanford answered a call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. He proudly served during Desert Storm aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, an experience that shaped his sense of duty, resilience, and camaraderie. Throughout his life, Sanford deeply valued the lifelong friendships he formed with his fellow servicemen, holding respect and love for those bonds more than 30 years later.

Sanford enjoyed staying active and could often be found at the gym, where he dedicated himself to fitness and personal discipline. He also had a natural ability to connect with others, forming friendships and building community through social media. His humor, openness, and willingness to engage made him someone people gravitated toward.

Above all, Sanford cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Payton Mackenzie Young, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his siblings Sandra Young, Sherry Hunter, Barbette Gallinger, and Debbie Young, as well as his step-siblings Brian and Aliza, with whom he maintained a strong and meaningful bond. In addition, he leaves behind Marianne Van Winkle and Robert Van Winkle, who held a special place in his life.

Sanford was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Jo Perry and Sanford Lee Young.

Sanford will be remembered for his generous spirit, his dedication to those he loved, and the connections he nurtured throughout his life. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him.
