Shirley Rains

Shirley Ann Rains passed away on May 23, 2025. She was 94 years old.

Shirley was born to Benjamin and Margaret Miller on January 16, 1931 in Sonoma, CA. Her father was a mail carrier so the family moved around quite a bit, living in Colorado, Indiana and Montana before settling in Oregon.

Shirley met her husband, Tilman Rains, and they were married on June 7, 1953. They were blessed with five children. They bought a farm in Stayton, OR and lived there for many years, raising their family.

Throughout her lifetime, Shirley had many interests. In her younger years she was involved in 4-H, acting in plays, even winning a state declamation award in high school. Shirley picked up sewing and began taking piano lessons at a young age, and both continued to be important to her for many years.

She was a lovely, thoughtful woman, who enjoyed serving and caring for others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tilman, son, Kevin, and great-grandson Ethan Stovall.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Debbie & David Chambers, Pam & Bill Alfson, Julie & Greg Warren, and Roger & Erica Rains, 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
