Steven Douglas Divel was born on November 15, 1955, in Salem, Oregon to Wendell Divel and Ruth (Trogdon) Divel. He attended North Salem High School and during that time would participate in Argonauts- Drum and Bugle Corps. Steven always had a passion and talent for music. After high school he joined the United States Navy and the tail end of the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge he would spend many years as a self-employed musician who would travel with his bands around Canada, Oregon, Wyoming, and Nevada. Over the years he would play in bands that covered blues, country, and some classic rock. He was also a member of the Keizer Eagles Lodge and spending even his free time playing his guitar. It was not uncommon that if Steven walked into a music store, before leaving, he would tinker with different instruments and have a tune developed. On April 2, 2022, Steven passed away at his home in Corvallis, Oregon at age 66. He was predeceased by his both of his parents and his brother, Alan Divel. He is survived by his sister, Jeanette Carlson; nieces, Felicity Brown and Angela Brown; in addition to 1 great niece and 1 great nephew. Steven will always be remembered for his love of music and fun-loving nature. A celebration of his life will be held at Court Street Christian Church on April 23, 2022 at 2pm.
