Terrie was born on December 19, 1946, on Rota, one of the Northern Mariana Islands, to Felix and Jeronima (Taisacan) Mendiola.
Terrie met and married Ismael Tudela, and together they raised three sons, Edward, Marvin, and Michael. Following Ismael's passing, Terrie continued raising her three boys with strength, determination, and the support of her family, including her brothers and sisters who remained a constant source of comfort and encouragement. Years later, she met and married Herman C. Hill, a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer. Together they shared many years of companionship and adventure while residing in Guam, traveling throughout the world, and making it a point to visit family members wherever their travels took them.
Following Herman's passing, Terrie moved to Oregon to be closer to family. Like many Chamorro families, Terrie established roots in the Pacific Northwest while remaining deeply connected to her culture, traditions, and family bonds. Over the years, she built a life centered on faith, family, generosity, and perseverance. As the last surviving sister in her family, she treasured the lifelong bonds she shared with her siblings and remained especially close to her brothers.
Terrie was known for her warm hospitality and welcoming spirit. Family and friends knew that her home was a place where people could gather, share stories, enjoy a meal, and feel cared for. A talented cook throughout her life, Terrie worked as a chef before retiring as a civilian employee with the Department of the Navy in Guam. She took great pride in preparing meals for others and found deep joy in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow.
Some of Terrie's favorite pastimes included traveling, family gatherings, and enjoying social outings, especially playing Bingo, where she often joked that "Bingo" was the name of her boyfriend. Her sense of humor, love of people, and enjoyment of life's simple pleasures brought smiles to those around her. She was known for her generous spirit and rarely arrived at a family gathering empty-handed, often bringing her beloved Chamorro red rice to share with family and friends. Above all else, however, her family remained her greatest source of pride and purpose.
In her later years, Terrie was lovingly cared for by her children, family, and extended family. Together they were blessed with precious time, sharing conversations, memories, celebrations, and the everyday moments that become life's greatest treasures.
On October 16, 2026, surrounded by family, Terrie passed away at the age of 79.
Terrie was preceded in death by her first husband, Ismael Tudela; her second husband, Herman C. Hill; and her parents, Felix and Jeronima Mendiola.
She is survived by her sons, Edward (Annette) Tudela, Marvin (Eileen) Tudela, and Michael (Lydia) Tudela; her reared daughter, Junie Tudela Folliett (Tony); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers, Felix Mendiola, Martin Mendiola, and Otton Mendiola; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and love.
