In Loving Memory of Troy Shanks

Troy Shanks, a man of quiet strength, deep loyalty, and genuine warmth, passed away leaving behind a life filled with meaningful connections, skilled craftsmanship, and simple joys. He was a devoted father, proud grandfather, beloved brother, and a cherished friend to many.

Born and raised in Albany, Oregon, Troy also spent several years in Ohio, carrying with him the same spirited determination that defined his younger years. Known for his scrappy nature and fighting spirit, he grew into a calmer, gentler presence in his later life—one who found peace in his work and joy in his surroundings.

Troy was a gifted craftsman who took great pride in building pole barns and working in construction. Every project was a reflection of his dedication and skill—something he documented with photos and shared with pride. He saw beauty in structure and value in hard work, and his creations were more than just buildings—they were lasting pieces of his legacy.

An avid pool player, Troy found solace in the steady rhythm of the game. Whether focused on a precise shot or swapping stories with friends nearby, the pool table was one of the places where he felt most at ease. The camaraderie, the focus, and the flow of the game brought him joy throughout his life.

Though a true homebody at heart, Troy's favorite escape was the Yellow Bottom camping area—a peaceful spot in nature where he felt truly content. Surrounded by trees and the sound of running water, he found clarity and calm that stayed with him long after each visit.

More than anything, Troy loved fiercely. His bond with his beloved dog, Lady Bug, was a testament to that love—a relationship built on trust, loyalty, and unwavering companionship. To Troy, Lady Bug was not just a pet but a constant presence and true family.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley, who brought him immense pride and love; and his granddaughters, Madison and Ruby-Ann, who lit up his world. He is also survived by his brother, Scott Shanks. Troy’s legacy lives on in each of them, in the strength, kindness, and memories he leaves behind.

Troy was preceded in death by his siblings Sue Parvin, Guy Shanks, and Barbra Cardwell, whose memories he held close to his heart.

He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his fierce love for those close to him, and the honest, grounded way he moved through the world. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the quiet comforts and natural beauty he held dear.
