Vera Rae Bertram was born on November 27, 1939, in Payette, Idaho to Lloyd and Zelma Elizabeth Dougherty.
Vera lived in many places from Juntura, Oregon to Oroville California, Ontario, OR to Columbus, MT.
While living in Montana she met the love of her life Pete Bertram, they married on June 18, 1983. She moved to Absarokee, MT where she lived for 36 years.
While living in Absarokee she was involved in the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and was also an active member in her church.
She and her husband, Pete, worked together building and remodeling houses and other small jobs. She managed the painting and cleaning crews and loved every minute of it.
Her most important role in life was being a mom. She was blessed with three children, Jeff, Fred and Juli.
After losing her husband she moved back to Oregon where she lived the remainder of her life with her daughter and son-in-law in Turner, Oregon.
When not working, Vera and Pete loved to travel; they would spend time in Eastern Oregon in the high desert that her son’s call home. Vera liked to complete puzzles, crosswords, and word searches. She enjoyed gardening, especially in Western Oregon. One of Vera’s favorite things was watching the roses bloom in January!
Vera passed away on January 2, 2023, at age 83. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete, and sisters, Vivian Graham, Hazel Allsop and Wanda Joyce in addition to her brother, Lloyd Dougherty.
She is survived by her children, Jeff Hussey, Fred Hussey and Juli Webb; sister, Denice Crowder; 8 amazing grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
