Yvonne Marie Fincher, born August 7, 1935, in Keremeos, British Columbia, Canada, passed away on February 1, 2026. She was the daughter of Francis E. Howarth and Henry Payant. Her childhood was filled with travel, new places, and the kind of memories that come from a family always on the go.
As a young woman, Yvonne spent many years in California before settling in Oregon, where she lived for the last 26 years. No matter where she was, she created a home defined by warmth, humor, and the unmistakable joy she found in the people she loved.
Yvonne worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, each one reflecting her strong work ethic and her ability to connect with others. She held sales positions, served as a secretary at two furniture stores, worked for a home‑building company, and later at a casino. Years down the road, she embraced a new chapter as a lunch lady.
Yvonne enjoyed crocheting, taking pictures, and scrapbooking, preserving memories of those she cared for. She loved playing Scrabble with her sister and grandchildren, and she delighted in collecting butterfly jewelry along with piggy and snowman knick‑knacks that brought a touch of whimsy to her home. The beach was her happy place, and she never missed an opportunity to visit the coast, breathe in the ocean air, and feel the peace it brought her.
Above all else, Yvonne treasured her family. Time spent with her children, grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, and great‑great‑grandchildren was the heart of her life. She poured love into every generation, creating bonds and memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her father, Henry Payant; her mother, Francis Howarth; her step‑father, John Mann; her brother, John Mann II; and her sisters, Joanne DeLoof and Patricia Feltman.
She is survived by her children Nancy Killingsworth (Joe), Cindy Dick (Gary), and Chuck Hatfield (Beckie). She also leaves behind her grandchildren Jennifer & Dan Herford, Heidi Bourassa, Nancy Ann & Markus Hukill, Paige & Gunnar Andersen; 6 step -grandchildren; 20 great‑grandchildren; and 2 great‑great grandchildren, with each one a source of pride, joy, and deep affection in her life.
Yvonne’s legacy is one of love, creativity, laughter, and family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her playful sense of humor, and the way she made every person she loved feel special. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
